The Opportunity:
Appletree Medical Group is seeking a Part-Time Echocardiogram Technician to provide diagnostic echocardiography services at our 150 Katimavik Road clinic in Ottawa.
This position is ideal for an experienced cardiac sonographer who enjoys working in a collaborative outpatient environment alongside physicians and healthcare professionals. The successful candidate will work two days per week and will be responsible for performing high-quality echocardiographic examinations while ensuring an exceptional patient experience.
Job Type: Part-time.
Compensation: Will be commensurate with education and experience.
Work Location: 150 Katimavik Road, Kanata. (in person).
What You'll Do:
- Perform high-quality transthoracic echocardiograms in accordance with established clinical standards.
- Prepare patients for echocardiographic procedures by explaining the examination and answering questions.
- Acquire accurate diagnostic images for physician interpretation.
- Ensure all studies are completed efficiently while maintaining patient comfort and safety.
- Maintain accurate documentation and patient records.
- Work collaboratively with physicians and clinic staff to support timely patient care.
- Ensure equipment is functioning properly and report any maintenance concerns.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe examination room.
- Follow all infection prevention and control procedures.
- Perform other related duties as required.
What We're Looking For:
- Graduate of an accredited Cardiac Sonography or Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
- Current registration in good standing with Sonography Canada and/or CARDUP (or eligible for registration).
- Current certification in echocardiography.
- Previous experience performing adult transthoracic echocardiograms.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with physicians and clinic staff.
- Professional, compassionate, and patient-focused approach to care.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMRs) and computer systems.
Must be permanently eligible to work in Canada (i.e., Permanent Resident or Canadian Citizen) or have a Work Permit valid beyond 12 months (no sponsorships).
